Orban: European Union ‘raped’ Hungary and Poland

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that an agreement on new rules for the placement of migrants in Europe is not possible. He said this was because the European Union had previously “legally raped” Poland and Hungary and forced them to accept new rules for the distribution of illegal migrants. He said this before the start of the second day of the European Political Community (EPU) summit in the Spanish city of Granada.

The politician recalled that the last meeting of European Union leaders was held with new demands. The union “sold” a new approach to the distribution of migrants in need of asylum, despite the protests of Warsaw and Budapest.

“After this there is no chance of coming to any compromise and agreement on migration. It is politically impossible. Not just today – in general, for years to come. Because legally we have been – how can I put it – raped. And if you are legally raped, i.e. forced to accept what you don’t like, how can you come to an agreement and compromise? It is impossible,” Orban said.

Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that there had never been any serious discussions in the European Union about the possible consequences of Ukraine’s membership in the economic union. In his opinion, we should not talk about Kiev’s accession to the economic association until a relevant strategic document is adopted, which will demonstrate the probable outcome of the country’s accession to the EU. He stressed that Ukraine’s accession to the economic union raises “many questions and doubts” in the EU. The Hungarian prime minister added that the European Union had never yet accepted a state that was involved in a conflict.
