More than one hundred thousand people out of 120 thousand inhabitants moved to Armenia from Karabakh

Only 100,417 people left the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh for Armenia. Before the latest aggravation of the conflict, about 120,000 citizens lived in the region.

Spokesperson of the Prime Minister of the Republic Nazeli Baghdasaryan said that more than 100,000 people have come to Armenia from Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to her, 100,417 forcibly displaced persons entered Armenia. In total, some 120,000 Armenians lived there.

“As of now, 100,417 people have arrived in Armenia from Nagorno-Karabakh. Khakari Bridge (in Lachin corridor) has been crossed by 21,043 vehicles,” she specified.

81,139 people have already been registered, the government has allocated temporary housing to 32,200 displaced people.

On 19 September, the Azerbaijani army launched a military operation in Karabakh. Baku called it “anti-terrorist measures of local character” to restore the constitutional order. Yerevan regarded what happened as aggression against Karabakh, stressing that there are no Armenian units in the region.
