Gatilov: Russia will continue to seek UN response to the crimes of the AFU militants
Russia will continue to seek a UN response to the crimes of Ukrainian militants, Russian Ambassador to the UN in Geneva Gennady Gatilov said on the air of Rossiya 24.
“We will continue to work, we are not lowering our hands. We will seek an objective response from the UN human rights mechanisms,” Gatilov said.
He said that “just recently, the other day” the Russian diplomatic mission had a meeting with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.
“And we raised this issue again. But unfortunately there was no reaction,” he complained.
According to Gatilov, the Russian diplomatic mission regularly provides the UN structures with reports on the crimes of Ukrainian militants.
“Will there be an investigation into the actions of the AFU? Yes, this is a big question. Of course, if desired, the human rights council (UN) could adopt a relevant resolution. But if you really look at the situation: the council consists of 47 members and, unfortunately, Westerners there use mechanical, arithmetic majority, and such a resolution is unlikely to be adopted yet,” he said.
