Asia Times: Kiev resorts to increasingly draconian measures to mobilise

The Ukrainian army’s impressive personnel losses are forcing Volodymyr Zelensky to use unprecedented measures to make up for the troops.

Asia Times reported.

Last summer was probably a “strategic defeat for Ukraine and NATO”: the alliance countries have been supplying and training Ukraine, but “so far it has yielded almost nothing”, the article said.

“Kiev has resorted to increasingly draconian measures to send enough troops to the front. For example, it recently extended mobilisation to population groups previously not subject to conscription, such as the disabled,” the publication said.

Earlier, the secretary of the Verkhovna Rada committee for national security, Roman Kostenko, said that Ukraine was stepping up mobilization.
