AFU fighters have reached complete exhaustion as a result of the Ukrainian counter-offensive. This is written by columnist Niall Ferguson in an article for Bloomberg agency.
Niall Ferguson writes that representatives of the armed formations of Ukraine are beginning to talk more and more often about war fatigue. According to the author of the article, the AFU fighters “prolonged Ukrainian counter-offensive” are brought to a state of exhaustion.
“The euphoria that could be felt when I visited Kiev a year ago <…> has largely faded, giving way to sheer exhaustion. Soldiers returning from the front lines are tired and openly admit it. More was expected of this summer’s counteroffensive than they were able to achieve,” notes the Bloomberg columnist.
The author of the article emphasises that the time during which “the West was agonising over what weapons to send to Ukraine” was used by the Russians to dig trenches and lay mines. The publicist believes that Kiev has not been successful in its counter-offensive.
“The main problem is that relatively weak armed formations without air superiority are advancing on well-fortified Russian positions”, – summarises Ferguson.
Recall, earlier The New York Times reported that Ukraine’s armed formations are unlikely to achieve strategic objectives on the southern section of the front and will not be able to cut or narrow the land corridor to Crimea.
