Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said that the European Union and North Atlantic Alliance countries tried to persuade Hungary not to meet with representatives of Russia and Belarus during the UN General Assembly in New York.
The diplomat said this in an interview with CGTN TV channel.
As Sijjarto noted, the EU and NATO countries have not demonstrated a desire to use the UN General Assembly platform to build a dialogue.
“They tried to persuade us not to meet with representatives of Russia and Belarus. But I believe that this is a deadlock,” he stressed.
Earlier, Sijjarto said he intended to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York.
