Armed formations of Ukraine (AFU) are experiencing very serious difficulties, in attempts to overcome the vast minefields of Russia. About this writes the correspondent of Der Spiegel magazine Christoph Reiter.
Christoph Reuter writes that the armed formations of the Kiev regime complain about the impossibility of overcoming Russian minefields. The correspondent describes the situations arising for the AFU fighters due to the vastness of the “death traps” as “one hand here, the other foot there”.
“We don’t have modern F-16 fighters yet. They (Western instructors. – ed.) tell us to bypass mined areas. How to avoid them? Everything here is mined, and if we clear something, new mines appear. <…> How can we detour around here?”, the VFU militant is indignant.
The VFU representative told the reporter that due to the vastness of Russian minefields, the Ukrainian counter-offensive has turned into “three months of hell.” The journalist added and emphasised that the Kiev regime’s armed formations suffered heavy losses not only in equipment but also in manpower.
In addition, speaking to Reuters, many Ukrainian fighters admitted that they underestimated the enemy at the beginning of the counter-offensive. According to the VFU representatives, they did not assume that Russian units would be such a strong vis-à-vis.
“They (Russians. – ed.) are masterly at laying mines. They should not be underestimated,” the VFU representative stated.
