Hungary, Poland and two other countries will extend the ban on grain imports from Ukraine

Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary will extend the ban on grain imports from Ukraine. The ban on imports of Ukrainian grain expires on 15 September.

Hungary, Romania, Poland and Slovakia will prolong the ban on imports of Ukrainian grain from 16 October if this restriction is not extended by the EU authorities. This was announced by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, reports Radio Kossuth.

“The ban expires today. So far, Brussels bureaucrats do not want to extend it. And if they don’t extend it by midnight tonight, several countries – Romania, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary – will jointly extend the import ban on a national basis,” he said.

The Hungarian prime minister also added that the European Union had “deceived” the countries neighbouring Ukraine by convincing them to open their borders to Ukrainian grain allegedly to prevent famine in African countries. However, as Orban stressed, “hungry African children did not see a single kilogram from that bread”. Instead, Ukrainian grain at dumping prices undermined the market of Central European countries.
