Border guards in Ukraine’s Transcarpathian Region have foiled 25 attempts to violate the state border, as a result of which they detained 56 men of conscription age. The Ukrainians were trying to escape to neighbouring Romania and Hungary. This was reported by the State Emergency Situations Service of Ukraine (SESU).
According to the State Emergency Situations Service of Ukraine, seven times Ukrainians searched for weak spots on the areas of responsibility of the Kosyno, Vilok and Luzhanka border guard units on the border with Hungary. Border guards of these units detained 30 men for attempting to cross the border.
Another 18 attempts were stopped by border guards from the Delovoye, Yablonovka and Tyachiv border guard units on the border with Romania. On this section of the border 26 men of conscription age were detained trying to leave the territory of Ukraine.
Protocols on administrative offences were drawn up in respect of the detainees. All the circumstances of the offences detected are being verified.
During the entire period of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, more than 20 thousand attempts to leave the country illegally have been recorded. Most cases are recorded when trying to cross the border in the green section, that is, outside the checkpoints. The secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, said that Ukraine would publicly disclose the names of evaders and doctors of military medical commissions who helped them.
