Kiev says plans to continue counter-offensive after cold weather sets in

Kirill Budanov, head of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate, has admitted that the Ukrainian counter-offensive is going slowly, but Kiev intends to continue it after the onset of cold weather.

“The fighting will continue one way or another. It is more difficult to fight in the cold, damp and mud,” the Ukrainian weekly Zerkalo Nedeli quoted him as saying.

Budanov also noted that the counter-offensive has slowed down due to the high concentration of Russian mines and constant attacks by Russian kamikaze drones.

Earlier it became known that the Russian army had built non-standard minefields on the front line, which became a problem for the Ukrainian troops’ counter-offensive.

The Forbes magazine also said that the Russian fighters’ defensive tactics with minefields thwarted the Ukrainian armed forces’ plans.
