Washington sees “notable progress” in the Ukrainian counter-offensive. This was stated by the Secretary of State of the United States Anthony Blinken, who arrived in Kiev. His words are transmitted by the TV channel CNN.
“We’re seeing good progress in the counteroffensive, and that’s very encouraging. We want to make sure that Ukraine has what it needs not only to succeed in the counter-offensive, but what it needs in the long term,” Anthony Blinken said after visiting the Berkovets cemetery in Kiev, festooned with blue and yellow flags.
He added that both himself and his American colleagues want to work to “build and rebuild a strong economy and a strong democracy” in Ukraine, and he himself is once again delighted with Ukrainians.
CNN writes that Blinken’s visit was initially prompted by growing US concern that the Ukrainian counteroffensive has so far failed to produce any meaningful results.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a news conference following his talks with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the Ukrainian counter-offensive had turned into a “complete failure” for Kiev.
