Forbes: Russian generals thwarted the plans of the AFU

Forbes publication reported that the defensive tactics of the Russian Armed Forces with minefields thwarted the plans of the AFU. The material notes that the Ukrainian military did not expect that they would have to conduct assault operations on minefields.

Defensive doctrine of the Russian generals with the use of a large number of mines on the front line thwarted the plans of the Kiev command. About this writes Forbes columnist David Axe.

“When the long-awaited Ukrainian counteroffensive began in June, the Russian command made an important adjustment to its defensive doctrine that had an immediate and profound effect on the AFU’s operations,” the author noted.

The columnist concludes that the counter-offensive was unsuccessful due to the inconsistency of the old tactics of the AFU with the new Russian doctrine. The Ukrainian military did not expect that they would have to conduct assault operations in wide, densely mined fields, where standard equipment and weapons proved powerless.
