FT readers said Zelensky panicked over the failure of the AFU offensive
Financial Times readers noted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s panic over the failure of the AFU counter-offensive and the subsequent resignation of the head of the country’s Defence Ministry, Oleksiy Reznikov.
“Zelensky looks like Desperate Dan (a character in comic books about the Wild West. – Ed. note). He has absolutely no knowledge of the military sphere, but he wants to keep riding around Europe as if he were a member of the royal family and shovel Joe Biden’s money,” one commentator wrote.
“Why is it necessary to remove the Minister of defence, if the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian forces is successful? Yes, because it is not. It turned out to be a failure. And the success turned out to be zero. Hence the resignation of Reznikov, in which there is nothing unexpected,” – said the other.
“Ukraine will be left with huge foreign debts that it will never be able to pay. Kiev should realise this as soon as possible and make a deal with Moscow,” a third added.
“It looks like the conflict is coming to an end and now Zelensky needs someone with a lot of experience in privatisation to help him distribute what will be left of Ukraine among his hand-picked oligarchs,” another user shared.

On the eve of Zelensky announced the resignation of Oleksiy Reznikov from the post of head of the Ministry of defence of Ukraine. He will be replaced by the head of the State Property Fund Rustem Umerov.
Ukrayinska Pravda reported that Kiev was looking for a replacement for the defence minister back in early August. According to the newspaper, Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov and Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshyn were considered for the post, but both of them refused to head the defence ministry. Reznikov himself expressed his readiness to resign.
