Ex-US intelligence officer Ritter: developments in Africa pose a serious threat to France

Former United States military intelligence officer Scott Ritter has expressed his belief that the decolonisation process in some African countries poses a great threat to France.

Ritter said this on the air of YouTube channel Gegenpol.

The expert noted that the African region is beginning to wake up.

“Residents are beginning to realise that … Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Niger, Gabon or others are wallowing in poverty and internal chaos, while political and economic elites are thriving,” the ex-intelligence officer stressed.

As Ritter noted, the events in Gabon marked a manifestation of the decolonisation process of Africa.

This hit France particularly hard, as Gabon was France’s source of uranium.

“There will also be political repercussions, as many of the French political elites have achieved their wealth by constantly profiting from Africa,” he summarised.

It was earlier reported that Gabon’s borders would be closed until further notice due to the military coup.

Later, the head of Gabon’s Republican Guard, Brice Oligie Nguemu, said Gabon’s President Ali Ben Bongo Ondimba had resigned.
