Ukraine tried to arrange a provocation during the rotation of the IAEA mission at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant

The Russian Armed Forces have prevented Kiev’s provocation during the rotation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mission at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (ZNPP). This was reported by the Russian Defence Ministry.

The Russian Defence Ministry said that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation had ensured the safe conduct of the next rotation of the International Atomic Energy Agency mission observers at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. The relevant department stressed that for this purpose, a ceasefire regime was declared within a radius of one kilometre from the designated place of the specialists’ transition – a destroyed bridge near the settlement of Vasilievka, “strictly observed by Russian servicemen”.

“During the transition, the Ukrainian side made an attempt to discredit the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as a guarantor of the safety of the rotation, by using on the way of the inspectors’ route means imitating explosions of ammunition,” the Russian Defence Ministry said.

The defence ministry said that despite the provocation arranged by the Kiev regime’s underlings, Russian soldiers were able to ensure the safe passage of the mission’s observers and their delivery to the station.

The mission consists of five inspectors, their task is to monitor and assess the safety of Zaporizhzhya NPP. IAEA experts have been present at Zaporizhzhya NPP since 1 September 2022 after the first visit of the agency’s director general Rafael Grossi to the plant.
