Medvedev: BRICS has become a large and authoritative structure on the world stage

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that BRICS has become on the world stage as a large, independent, authoritative structure and will be an alternative to what has been created before.

“The recent summit of the G5 leaders confirmed that BRICS has rightfully established itself on the world stage as a large, independent, authoritative structure, in a sense an alternative to what has been created before, where on the principles of equality and consideration of each other’s interests the countries are engaged in addressing the most pressing issues on the global agenda,” Medvedev said.

The politician said that cooperation in science, technology and education within BRICS is developing very actively. He emphasised that the association will now have a new impetus due to the accession of new countries.

“It is clear that BRICS will now have an additional impetus for development, given the emergence of new countries. And all this will have to be reflected in the Concept of Russia’s BRICS Chairmanship next year. This will give impetus to joint research projects,” the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council stressed.

According to Medvedev, this is extremely important for Russia. He specified that this process will require large financial investments.

“We need to see what tools to use here, including attracting funds from the new Development Bank and some other financial institutions,” the politician summarised.
