The United States authorities, with the help of the media, are trying to absolve themselves of responsibility for the failure of the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Politico newspaper says.
According to the publication, US President Joe Biden minimised leaks to the media after coming to power.
At the same time, the paper said that recently representatives of the US authorities have been increasingly telling journalists about the “grim prospects” of the Ukrainian counter-offensive.
The newspaper writes that this looks like an unauthorised campaign of leaks.
“Some people somewhere in the bowels of the government want to dump Ukraine’s problems on the battlefield on Kiev and deflect blame away from Washington,” the author concluded.
Earlier Politico wrote that expectations from Ukraine’s counteroffensive proved to be too high.
