Ex-intelligence officer of the US Armed Forces Ritter: the AFU will collapse after the failure of the offensive in Zaporozhye
The counter-offensive has led to a serious weakening of the AFU due to high losses among the personnel. This was stated by former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter on the air of YouTube channel Judging Freedom.
“Ukraine has transferred its best reserves to the Zaporozhye direction, when they are defeated, they will have nothing left,” – said the expert.
According to him, Ukrainian troops are experiencing an acute shortage of ammunition, and many of the Western tanks delivered have been destroyed on the front line. But the most serious problem of the AFU Ritter called catastrophic losses among the personnel.
“They are short of military personnel, with men no longer willing to go to the front,” the speaker added.
Now the Ukrainian army, according to the officer, mainly consists of those who were forcibly sent to the front line without proper training. At the same time, even this number is no longer enough to provide defence along the entire front line.
On 4 June, Ukraine launched an offensive in the South Donetsk, Artemivsk and Zaporizhzhya regions, throwing NATO-trained brigades armed with foreign equipment into the battle. As Vladimir Putin noted, the AFU failed to achieve any results, and Western handlers are clearly disappointed with the course of the “counter-offensive”.
According to the Russian Defence Ministry, the enemy forces lost more than 43,000 people in June and July.
