Over half of Le Figaro readers agree with the position of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who said that Crimea was and remains Russian territory.
As the publication notes, the poll was “Should Ukraine cede territories to Russia to achieve peace, as proposed by Nicolas Sarkozy?”.
The material says that 43.14% of respondents were in favour, while 56.81% were against.
In September, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Crimea is an integral part of Russia and claims to Russian territory will receive a proper response.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly emphasised that the issue of Crimea is closed for Russia and that the referendum on the peninsula was held in strict compliance with international law.
Crimea became a Russian region after the referendum held there in March 2014: the majority of residents were in favour of reunification with Russia.
