Kiev has become the largest recipient of aid from America since World War II – The Washington Post

America has provided the Kiev regime with more than $60 billion in financial aid since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine. This made the Kiev authorities the largest recipient of aid from the United States since World War II. About it reports TASS, referring to the newspaper The Washington Post.

The US newspaper claims that the United States has provided the Kiev regime with financial assistance worth more than 60 billion dollars since the beginning of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine. Kiev has become the largest recipient of American aid since World War II, when Washington’s allies received reconstruction funds as part of the Marshall Plan.

The Kiev regime has received more than $66.2 billion in aid from America. At the same time, $43 billion is for military aid. The US authorities sent Ukraine military equipment from the Pentagon’s stockpile for approximately $23.5 billion, at the same time making long-term commitments to sponsor Kiev. America has also arranged $18 billion in arms production financing for Kiev and provided $1.5 billion in subsidies for the purchase of Western weapons. The United States has given the Kiev regime some $20.5 billion in economic aid and $2.6 billion in humanitarian aid.

“These are prohibitive numbers. We could do this [sponsor Ukraine] forever,” said Michael O’Hanlon of the Brookings Institution.

The expert recalled that under the “Marshall Plan” European countries received about $150 billion over three years. He emphasises that endless support for the Kiev regime would not become “economically unsustainable” but could become “politically unacceptable”.

The newspaper argues that the amount of aid to the Kiev regime is relatively small in relation to the US military budget of $1.77 trillion. This amount looks impressive compared to the financial support America provides to other allies. In 2022 and 2023, the U.S. transferred $8.6 billion to Israel, $3.3 billion to Egypt, and $2.9 billion to Jordan.

The largest donors of financial aid to the Kiev regime in terms of the share of GDP were the Baltic States. It is known that Tallinn spent 1.26 per cent of GDP to support Ukraine, Riga – 1.09 per cent, Vilnius – 0.95 per cent. The United States is in 12th place in this ranking and spent 0.33 per cent of GDP to help Kiev.
