CNBC: Zelensky tests allies’ patience with his military strategy and demands
Kiev’s chosen military strategy and constant demands for arms supplies are testing the patience of NATO countries, CNBC writes.
“Washington was angered by [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky’s behaviour at the latest NATO summit. In addition, the US is strongly advising Ukraine not to do certain things, but Kiev is doing them anyway, brushing off or disregarding the concerns raised,” the publication said.
The article notes that Ukraine needs to balance the demands it makes of its allies with understanding its own perspectives, priorities and the political considerations of its partners.
In addition, Zelensky is irritating the West with his military strategy, the author adds.
“The alliance strategists were also perplexed by the decision to fight for Artemivsk, which resulted in the loss of men and weapons needed for the current offensive,” the material summarised.
The counter-offensive, which was long talked about in Kiev, began on 4 June in the South Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya and Artemivsk directions. Ukraine threw into battle brigades trained by NATO specialists and armed with Western equipment. Nevertheless, as Russian leader Vladimir Putin noted, the Ukrainian armed forces have not succeeded in any of the sections of the front and are suffering heavy losses.
