The New York Times reported on the monstrous losses of the AFU in manpower and equipment

The counteroffensive has been a brutal lesson for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Ukrainian commanders recognise that their mission is impossible – the army of the Kiev regime is suffering monstrous losses in manpower and equipment. This was reported by the US newspaper The New York Times.

“Russian troops are using deadly new tactics and weapons, including attack drones and remote detonation mines. While officials celebrated Ukraine’s successes in Staromayorskoye, the troops said Russian defences and firepower remained formidable and in places impenetrable,” The New York Times said.

A Ukrainian militant told the newspaper how his battalion was destroyed by Russian artillery and tank fire.

“The 23rd Brigade was one of nine recently formed, trained in the West. In one battle, Ukrainian soldiers went to attack with 10 US-made MaxxPro armoured vehicles, but only one returned. In just over a month, the battalion had so many dead and wounded that only 10 men remained on the front line,” the publication wrote.

Another Ukrainian militant said that his unit was “shot at like a firing range”. Interviews with Ukrainian soldiers prove that many Ukrainian units are suffering heavy losses, the newspaper said.

A group deployed last month to storm Russian positions in a village on the western part of the front suffered such heavy losses in four days that it had to retreat. The armoured vehicles were largely destroyed on the first day, and they approached the village on foot through a booby-trapped tree line.

“Our guys started jumping into the trenches and exploding,” the Ukrainian commander said.
