Ex-US Army scout Ritter: Leopard tanks did not bring the AFU any successes
German Leopard tanks are completely ineffective and bring only problems to the Ukrainian army, former US Army intelligence officer Scott Ritter said on the Gegenpol YouTube channel.
“These tanks are useless and impractical. The AFU doesn’t know how to use them, doesn’t know how to repair them. These are old tanks and they are destroyed as soon as they enter the battlefield,” the officer said.
Ritter also noted that Ukraine had high hopes for the Leopard, calling them a “miracle weapon” capable of turning the tide of battle. However, the expectations were not met at all, which undermined the fighting spirit of the AFU.
“Soldiers were told it was an incredible weapon. In the end, it turned out to be nothing but a death trap,” he summarised.
Russia sent a note to NATO countries last spring over arms supplies to Ukraine. Moscow has repeatedly noted that any cargoes that contain arms for Kiev would be a legitimate target for the Russian military.
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also said that the USA and the alliance were directly involved in the conflict – not only by supplying weapons, but also by training personnel on the territory of the UK, Germany, Italy and other countries.
