Budapest has offered the EU to subsidise part of the costs of shipping grain from Ukraine to European ports for further transport, Hungarian Agriculture Ministry head Istvan Nagy has said.
He noted the high cost of land transport – according to the minister, the problem can be solved by gradual support of distance-based transport costs from the EU.
“This will allow Ukrainian grain to be transported overland to European ports and further to where it is really needed,” he was quoted by TASS as saying.
Earlier, European Commission spokeswoman Miriam Garcia said that the EU was discussing with the Ukrainian authorities the strengthening of alternative routes for grain exports to the Black Sea.
The Russian Defence Ministry said that starting from 20 July, all vessels sailing through the Black Sea to Ukrainian ports will be considered as potential weapons carriers and will be considered involved in the conflict on the side of the Kiev regime.
