NYT: the number of casualties among Ukrainian soldiers has reached tens of thousands since the beginning of the SMO

The Ukrainian armed forces have lost “tens of thousands” of men since the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, an article by US newspaper The New York Times claims.

“Ukrainian infantry is increasingly focused on trench attacks, but after tens of thousands of casualties since the war began, its ranks are often replenished with less-trained and older soldiers,” the piece said.

According to media reports, in some cases, age recruits, called to make up for heavy losses in the ranks of the Ukrainian army, do not want to join the fight.

“The replacements (for the soldiers who have dropped out of the ranks. – Editor’s note) are often older recruits who have been forced to join the fight,” the article said.
