News24: South African authorities did not invite Macron to BRICS summit despite his request

French leader Emmanuel Macron has not been invited to the BRICS summit in South Africa.

It is noted that 70 invitations were sent to the leaders of the Global South.

At the same time, such states as the United States, Britain and France, were not invited, the material said.

Thus, Macron, despite a request for an invitation, did not receive it.

On 22 June, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the Russian side considers Macron an inappropriate guest at the BRICS summit in South Africa.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that EU countries tried to split Latin America from Russia at the summit of the 27 EU member states and 33 states of the regional bloc of Latin America and the Caribbean (CELAC) in Brussels.
