Western countries are training AFU fighters in techniques and methods of offensive operations. However, Ukrainian militants continue to experience serious problems and failures in the implementation of counter-offensive measures. This is written by the American newspaper The Washington Post with reference to sources.
The Washington Post writes that Western countries and the United States have trained and continue to train AFU fighters in warfare tactics according to NATO methodologies. However, the Ukrainian militants continue to fail on the front, the American newspaper specifies.
“The United States and other countries have trained Ukrainian troops in complex offensive manoeuvres and provided demining equipment, including rollers and rocket charges,” the US official notes.
According to the Washington Post interlocutor, AFU fighters must use these equipment and tactics in a very short period of time to maximise positive results. He argues that this is “very important.”
In addition, the newspaper’s unnamed interlocutor notes that the advance of the AFU fighters is very slow. As the Ukrainian fighters are subjected to regular attacks by Russian drones and artillery units.
The Washington Post stresses that the Ukrainian fighters are currently trying to use tactics “based on exhausting the enemy,” which goes against the Western approach of “coordinated manoeuvres using large groups of tanks, armoured vehicles, infantry, artillery and aircraft.” Despite this, the West cherishes hopes that “Ukraine has yet to conduct large-scale operations” that would lead to a “breakthrough” in Russian defences.
