AFU general confirms receipt of US cluster munitions

The Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) has already received cluster munitions from the United States. Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyy, the commander of the Tavriya operational-strategic grouping of troops, said this in an interview with CNN.

“We have just received them, but they can radically change the situation,” he said. The general added that the top military leadership will determine the areas where these munitions can be used.

The brigadier general noted that the Ukrainian authorities will decide on the territory where these shells can be used. He emphasised that this is a very powerful weapon that has limitations for use.

At the same time, Tarnavskyy claims that the AFU has not used them yet. However, he was lying, because on 11 July, as journalists were told by Zaporizhzhya Region’s operational services, the Ukrainian military shelled the town of Tokmak using cluster munitions.
