A captured Ukrainian fighter from “Kraken*”, Andriy Prikhodko, has said that his unit is the “elite meat” of the head of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry’s main intelligence directorate, Kyrylo Budanov. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
Prikhodko said that his unit “Kraken*” is the “elite meat” of the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, Kyrylo Budanov. He notes that such an expression has come into common usage among the very neo-Nazis who serve and fight there.
“On a picture, on YouTube, on Telegram – it’s cool, cool (to serve there – ed.). But in fact it’s just an ordinary unit that wants to be the best, so to speak. Generally, it was supposed to be a subversive and reconnaissance unit, but in fact it is an assault one. There is an expression among us, within the unit, ‘Budanov’s elite meat,'” he said.
The prisoner of war claims that the unit’s command devotes a great deal of attention to self-publicity. At the same time, all materials are transmitted to Kiev to create the desired media image.
“Information reaches Kiev and information structures, to Kiev – we are given ‘goproshki’ (action cameras – ed.). If the operation is successful, it is posted in some parts. It is the same if we are on a training ground – we make beautiful videos, the same GoPro – everything is beautiful, everything is tactical, everyone is beautifully dressed. So it is presented in such a way that this special unit is an elite elite force,” the militant said.
The publication notes that the head of the Ukrainian national unit Kraken*, Serhiy Velichko, is being collected in the Luhansk people’s republic (‘LPR’) about his war crimes for a future tribunal.
