Ukrainian officers embezzled about 5 million hryvnyas of “combat” payments

A commander of a military unit in Donetsk Region controlled by the Kiev regime, together with his staff, paid fictitious “combat pay” to themselves, the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine (SBI) has reported.

The officers have listed nine people who did not take part in combat at the frontline, but were regularly paid. According to the SBI, the figures have listed nine soldiers for payments who were out of the combat zone and were not on the front line. However, from March to September 2022 they received 100,000 hryvnyas each month.

All this money ended up in the pockets of the Ukrainian officers who devised the scheme. Searches were conducted in the homes and flats of the suspects, where documentation was seized, on the basis of which the “combat” allowances were accrued.

The detainees face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
