China postpones planned visit by EU foreign policy chief Borrell

The People’s Republic of China has postponed a planned visit to the country next week by European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell. This was reported by TASS citing Reuters.

China has postponed a planned trip next week by European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell. The publication stresses that an alternative must now be sought.

“Unfortunately, we have been informed by our Chinese counterparts that [carrying out a visit on the] planned dates next week is no longer possible. We now need to find alternatives,” the agency notes.

Such information follows a written statement by Nabila Massrali, a spokesman for the European Union’s foreign policy service. However, there is no information on the reasons for the cancellation and the expected dates for the possible visit.
