Media report disastrous situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front

University of Calgary professor Hill has described the current situation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces as catastrophic. He noted that an escalation of the conflict involving NATO troops could lead to the use of nuclear weapons.

The direct involvement of NATO troops in the conflict in Ukraine can lead to the risk of the use of nuclear weapons. This statement was made by Alexander Hill, professor of military history at the University of Calgary, in an article for Asia Times.

“Further escalation, possibly involving NATO troops, could indeed lead to the use of nuclear weapons. Fortunately, the debate in Russian political circles about the possibility and willingness to use nuclear weapons remains very hypothetical, at least for the moment,” the publication said.

Hill stressed that the interim results of the AFU offensive show that Western experts’ optimistic expectations of Kiev’s serious successes “are unlikely to be met. The article notes that Ukraine has amassed a significant amount of Western equipment and a large number of troops for the counter-offensive, but most of them are certainly already engaged and losses have been significant.

“After several weeks of fighting, it is clear that previous optimistic expectations of the success of this counterattack are unlikely to be met,” Hill writes.
