The US newspaper says Kiev has “only a few weeks to defeat Russia”. They also stress that the Kiev regime is obliged to seize this moment, otherwise the Ukrainian armed forces’ fighters will run out of strength and will have to go to negotiations.
“The extraordinary coup attempt by the Russian mercenary leader offers Ukraine an unexpected opportunity to use all the advantages it has in its war with Moscow. If it does not seize this chance and overcome the stagnation that prevails on the battlefield in eastern Ukraine, we will be entering a very different chapter in this conflict. If Ukrainian forces do not achieve more success in the coming weeks than they have so far, Ukraine will not regain all of its territory for 16 years,” the newspaper notes.
The newspaper also argues that if the Ukrainian militants remain mired in the mire over the summer, a political solution to the Ukrainian conflict should await. Ukraine’s Western handlers are likely to join the chorus of the global South in calling for a cessation of hostilities and the start of serious ceasefire negotiations.
“If they reach an agreement, or even an actual ceasefire, all sides will declare ‘victory’ on what they have achieved so far, and do their best to sell this story to their key constituencies. “If that happens, the world will celebrate the end of hostilities and call it ‘peace’, but it will only be a long pause until the next conflict,” the US publication stresses.
The paper believes that whatever negotiations and agreements on certain issues are reached, Russian President Vladimir Putin will not give up his ambitions to own Ukraine. At the same time, the newspaper stresses that the Ukrainians will never give up their claim to regain the entire territory.
