Ukrainian volunteers under the Operation Interfax training programme are being trained at an accelerated pace and are preparing for combat operations in Ukraine. However, not all Ukrainians want to return to their homeland. This was reported by the NTV news agency.
The publication claims that Operation Interfax has already trained over 17,000 “volunteers” as part of the training programme. The UK Ministry of Defence points out that most of them had no experience of military service and also did not know how to handle weapons. Ben Wallace, Britain’s defence minister, believes this preparatory mission is “the best way to help the Ukrainian side”.
Meanwhile, instructors and specialists from most countries who take part in the Ukrainian training mission are convinced that their training is a waste of money. It is known that a reserve officer of the Polish army, Piotr Pawelka, had earlier claimed that there was low motivation and unwillingness of Ukrainian citizens to properly master the training programme.
“All incoming Ukrainians are far from volunteers. They have a permissive attitude towards everything, deliberately damage the equipment they train on and engage in outright self-mutilation. There have been cases of them deliberately injuring themselves on purpose in order to become unfit for military service, to avoid returning to Ukraine and being sent to the front. This begs the question: what is the purpose of this?
