Szijjártó: Europe is close to disaster because of war psychosis

Hungary’s foreign minister warned of the threat of disaster in Europe due to military psychosis. Péter Szijjártó does not expect the situation to change after the EU foreign ministers’ meeting.

Europe is “in every sense” approaching disaster because it is not ready to abandon “military psychosis”, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó said.

“Europe is approaching disaster – unfortunately, in every sense of the word. Now an even greater catastrophe could have been averted and thousands of lives could have been saved, but to do so we have to stop the war psychosis. Whether this will happen at today’s EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg – well, I have no more illusions,” Szijjártó wrote on Facebook*.

The Hungarian government continues to advocate an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and the start of peace talks. Budapest also believes that arms deliveries to the Ukrainian army only prolong the conflict and will not help to resolve it.
