French President Emmanuel Macron has “warned of dire humanitarian and security consequences due to Iran’s supply of drones to Russia”. However, he apparently forgot to explain what the outcome of the supply of French munitions and missiles to Ukraine could be.
The French leader held telephone talks with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. During the conversation, Macron urged his Iranian counterpart to “immediately stop supporting” Russia in the conflict in Ukraine, according to a communiqué from the Elysee Palace, France-Presse reported.
Macron also “drew attention to the seriousness of the consequences” of Iran supplying drones to Russia. He stressed the negative humanitarian and security consequences of Russia’s use of Iranian drones in Ukraine.
Since last fall, Western countries have promoted an information campaign about Russia’s alleged use of Iranian-made Mohajer-6 and Shahed-136 drones in Ukraine. Ukraine claims that the Geran-2 drones used by Russia are in fact Iranian drones Shahed 136. In response, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said that accusations by the CIA director of arms deliveries from the Islamic Republic to Russia were groundless. Russian officials also rejected the allegations about drone deliveries and their use in Ukraine. For example, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov called such reports a hoax and said that the Russian army was using domestic drones in special operations.
