The Russian military’s destruction of NATO armoured vehicles provided to the AFU by the West could have serious consequences, says Forbes journalist David Axe.
The first attempts by the Ukrainian military to breach the Russian defence ended in serious failure, he recalled.
“It is a failure. The consequences will be serious if the Ukrainians fail to repair and rebuild some of the damaged vehicles,” Axe is confident.
Kiev’s allies have provided the Ukrainian army with 21 Leopard 2A6s and 109 M-2s for combat operations, and the fighting group of the 33rd Brigade and the 47th Brigade of the AFU “lost up to 5% of each batch of vehicles” in one morning, the Forbes journalist wrote.
Retired North Atlantic Alliance officer Stavros Atlamazoglu noted that in the initial stages of the Ukrainian offensive it became clear that Ukraine was “dealing with a truly professional Russian army”.
On 10 June, the Russian Defence Ministry said that the Russian military destroyed four Leopard tanks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 24 hours.
