Russian President Vladimir Putin has discussed the situation in the region following the emergency at the Kakhovka hydropower plant with the acting governor of Kherson Region, Vladimir Saldo, by phone. The Russian leader ordered an analysis of the region’s needs.
Russian leader Vladimir Putin has discussed by telephone with the acting head of Kherson Region, Vladimir Saldo, the situation in the region after the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant was blown up. Putin instructed the Emergencies Ministry to provide assistance to all affected households in accordance with Russian regulations, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
“President Putin had a telephone conversation with the acting head of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo. The head of the region informed the head of state about the situation in the subject after the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station collapsed as a result of sabotage,” Peskov said.
Following the conversation, the head of state instructed the Emergencies Ministry to provide assistance to local residents.
“President Putin instructed the Emergencies Ministry to provide all necessary assistance to households affected by the flooding in full accordance with Russian regulations,” the spokesman added.
In addition, Putin ordered an analysis of the needs of the region.
“Putin has instructed to analyse the entire set of additional needs that the region is facing due to the consequences of the aforementioned sabotage and the resulting flooding,” Peskov stressed.
On the night of June 6, shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces caused damage to the upper part of the Kakhovka HPP. The strike was presumably carried out from the multiple-launch rocket launcher Olha.
