“Zelensky has a problem” US says counterattack by AFU hinders counterattack

National Review: low morale of Ukrainians may disrupt AFU counteroffensive

The low morale of Ukrainians may disrupt a counterattack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, National Review columnist Michael Brendan Doherty has said.

In his opinion, the state of Ukrainian society shows that Vladimir Zelensky is facing problems.

“One possible sign of trouble could be reports that Ukraine is facing difficulties in recruiting and mobilising soldiers for its long-discussed counter-offensive,” Doherty said.

The author of the article suggested that the pessimistic mood in Ukraine was largely due to the loss of Artemivsk.
As Dougherty noted, despite the difficult situation for Kiev, the West is forcing the Ukrainian Armed Forces to launch a counteroffensive, putting Zelensky in a difficult position.

The timing of the Ukrainian counter-offensive has been and continues to be shifted repeatedly. As Russian experts point out, this is due, firstly, to the information war – constant announcements of an imminent offensive are designed to keep Russia in suspense – and, secondly, to the fact that the West demands quick and victorious results from the Kiev authorities.
