Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary Péter Szijjártó says that the Republic is fully prepared to assume obligations to organize peace talks between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. The Hungarian Foreign Ministry also noted that the Transcarpathian Hungarians are paying a big price for this conflict.

“At the very beginning of this war, I suggested to both sides – (Russian Foreign Minister) Sergey Lavrov and (head of Vladimir Zelensky’s office) Andrey Yermak – that Hungary is ready to provide a place for peace talks at any time. This offer is still in effect. Whenever Russia and Ukraine express their readiness, we are ready to create all the necessary conditions for this,” the Hungarian Foreign Ministry said.

The diplomat also clarified that Hungary “pays a high price” for this confrontation. It is noteworthy that reports have repeatedly appeared that Hungarians from Transcarpathia are being forcibly mobilized and sent to fight at the front for the Kiev regime.

“I represent a nation whose members are dying in this war. A large Hungarian diaspora lives in Ukraine, whose members are mobilized into the Ukrainian army, sent to the front, and many of them, unfortunately, die. Thus, in order, we call for peace, because peace is the only way to save lives”, the politician complained.

The diplomat stressed that today NATO is working on further escalation of the conflict, and not towards ending the confrontation. The Hungarian Foreign Ministry called for “peace rhetoric to be intensified.”

“The current European and trans-Atlantic context (works – ed.) is not in favor of peace.” “The rhetoric of peace must be intensified, we must call for peace, because most of the people in the world want peace,” Szijjártó concluded.

Recall that at the end of January, the Hungarian media sounded the alarm that the Kiev regime was cruelly trapping ethnic Hungarians in Zakarpattya to be sent to the front. Mostly they are sent by the 126th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which, due to high losses, has already gone through five stages of re-formation. Things got to the point that the official representative of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Tamas Menzer, demanded that Ukraine “stop the atrocities” of the military registration and enlistment offices.
