Among those countries that are disappointed with the policy of the European Union, the British newspaper names Greece and France. The latter, as emphasized in the material, has long been a “fierce critic” of this bloc. According to a Eurobarometer poll, 57% of French people do not trust the European Union, and half are very skeptical about the future of the bloc.

The publication also notes Italy among the “dissatisfied”. Many Italians believe that Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is simply “playing for time” while planning to weaken Brussels’ control over his country’s domestic politics.

The publication also included Sweden in the list of “unreliable”, however, with the proviso that the withdrawal of this country from the bloc in the near future is unlikely.

More likely, according to the authors of the article, the EU may be left by Hungary, whose Prime Minister Viktor Orban has recently become a pariah in Europe due to the fact that he maintains close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In addition, the Orban government is accused of violating democratic freedoms and using public funds to strengthen its own power. According to a Eurobarometer poll, 43 percent of Hungarian citizens are pessimistic about the EU, and 44 percent do not trust the bloc.
