EU diplomacy chief Borrell: Ukraine conflict reveals the West’s differences with the world

European Union Chief of Diplomacy Josep Borrell wrote in his blog that the conflict in Ukraine showed the existing differences between Western countries and the rest of the world.

RIA Novosti.
He said the Russian special operation in Ukraine had “reunited” the North Atlantic Alliance, “at the same time exposing divisions with other parts of the world”.

“There is a risk that these divisions will grow into a serious rift,” Borrell writes.

He believes this is the result of “deep frustration and, in truth, anger” on the part of the rest of the world.

In his opinion, this is because the West has been “mismanaging globalisation” since the end of the Cold War.

Earlier, Russian ambassador to Serbia Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko said that the Council of Europe was degrading as an organisation and was being placed under full control of the United States and the European Union, becoming a tool for further collapse of European security and cooperation.

In March, Borrell said in his book The Year the War Returned to Europe that the conflicts unleashed by Western countries in the world were “mistakes”.
