“This will complicate the situation for Kiev”: US refuses to release data on AFU losses

The coordinator for strategic communications at the National Security Council (NSC) of the White House, John Kirby, has said that the US administration is not going to publish data on AFU losses. He said this in an online briefing for journalists.

“I’m not going to talk about losses on the Ukrainian side today. We never talk about Ukrainian casualties in the war. And I don’t think we’re going to change that position,” Kirby responded.

The US representative stressed that the Kiev authorities can release this information if they so wish. At the same time, it is worth recalling that Zelensky has proposed extending the mobilisation in Ukraine.

“I’m just not going to put in the public domain information that will complicate the situation for Ukraine. If they decide they want to declassify and release the figures, that’s their business,” the White House spokesman added.

We shall remind you that Scott Ritter, a former US intelligence officer and former UN inspector in charge of overseeing the elimination of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, said earlier that Ukrainian military losses may exceed 300,000 dead.
