Armed Forces of Ukraine threaten to fail counteroffensive due to exhaustion of militants – NYT

The Ukrainian counteroffensive is unlikely to end in success. In order for success to occur, the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine need to overcome the frontiers that Russian military personnel have built up in ten months. This is reported by RIA Novosti, referring to the New York Times columnist Michael Schwirtz.

Schwirtz argues that, most likely, the Ukrainian counter-offensive will not end in success. He clarifies that in order to achieve real success, the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine need to overcome the frontiers that the Russian Army has built up for ten months.

“Combat missions are scary. To succeed, Ukraine will need to overcome the well-fortified Russian borders for ten months, but also the shortcomings of its army”, he notes.

The journalist quotes American officials as saying that significant changes on the battlefield as a result of the Ukrainian counteroffensive are unlikely. He recalled that the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are running out of weapons very quickly.

“After 14 months of non-stop fighting, Ukrainian soldiers are exhausted,” Schwirtz concluded.

Recall, according to individual Ukrainian journalists, the loss of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the dead reached 140 thousand people. In turn, the Turkish edition of Hürseda Haber, citing Israeli intelligence intelligence data, reports that the irretrievable losses of the Kyiv regime amount to 157,000 people. Earlier, the head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, due to the deteriorating moral and psychological state of the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, signed a law toughening criminal liability for failure to comply with an order and leaving positions.
