Ex-intelligence officer Ritter: AFU lost 80% of original number of troops

Retired US Marine intelligence officer Scott Ritter has said that the Kiev regime will not be able to make up for military losses.

“The problem is that Ukraine had a regular army of 260,000 in the beginning… Now 80% of them have been killed, captured or wounded, and with the same level of training there is no replacement for them,” he said in an interview with the YouTube channel Judging Freedom.

According to RIA Novosti, he said the AFU now consists mostly of poorly trained mobilized locals.

Retired LPR lieutenant-colonel Andriy Marochko earlier said that the Ukrainian security forces were hiding the bodies of mercenaries and AFU fighters in basements in western Artemivsk (Bakhmut) in order to hide their losses.

On 26 April, the Russian Defence Ministry said that Russian forces had liquidated up to 300 servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and foreign mercenaries in a day.
