According to the general, the problem of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) is that Kiev will never have enough people and equipment. He specified that professional military personnel are exhausted, wounded or dead. Therefore, at the moment, people without military experience are drafted into the ranks of the Ukrainian army.
According to Pais, Melnyk is confident that the Ukrainian troops have enough weapons for the spring offensive. However, he noted that the more modern weapons Kiev receives from its international sponsors, the better.
As a reminder, military expert and retired LPR lieutenant colonel Andriy Marochko earlier said that Ukrainian troops’ losses over the past week amounted to more than four thousand fighters killed. Of those, only ten per cent were officially recognized, while the rest were reported missing. Marochko added that the Kiev authorities were hiding information about the military losses from the public and relatives of the dead.
