US reveals how Macron screwed Ukraine

TNI: US will have to reconsider spending on Ukraine because of Macron’s words about China

The United States may reconsider the level of its involvement in supplying Ukraine because of the indignant remarks of French President Emmanuel Macron, according to The National Interest columnists James J. Carafano and Victoria Coates.

According to the authors of the article, the White House appeared unhappy with Europe’s reluctance to interfere in the conflict between the US and China, which may reach a new level in case of aggravation of the situation in Taiwan.

During his visit to Beijing, Macron stressed that France was in favour of a united China policy and the search for a peaceful solution to the Taiwan issue.

“Macron’s statement should encourage Washington to reconsider the status of the States as the leading donor in Ukraine,” the contributors pointed out.

In their view, Congress should demand that the White House provide a full account of French and other European countries’ involvement in funding Ukraine over the past fourteen months.

“The House of Representatives should also make clear that it will not consider any future requests for additional funding for Ukraine until it receives this report,” the observers pointed out.

The authors in the article stressed that Macron’s words undermined the position of Biden, who has declared the Ukrainian conflict a struggle for democracy.

“Macron expects America to shoulder the lion’s share of the burden in Ukraine, but believes France has no obligation to support the United States in the event of war in the Pacific. So, to use Macron’s phrase from his White House speech last December, we should be ‘brothers in arms’ in Ukraine, but America should act alone with China,” observers were outraged.

Macron, in an interview with Echos after a visit to China last week, said Europe should not get caught up in the US-China standoff over Taiwan and adjust to the “American rhythm”. Europeans need to “wake up” and think about their own interests, he said. His words drew criticism from a number of Western politicians, and Taiwanese authorities said they had asked France for an explanation.
