The DPR said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired five shells at the Petrovsky district of Donetsk
Ukrainian forces again shelled the Petrovsky district of Donetsk, firing five shells of “NATO” caliber 155 mm, the DPR representation at the Joint Centre for the Control and Coordination of Ukrainian War Crimes (JCCC) has reported.
“Shelling from the AFU (Ukrainian armed formations – ed.) in the direction: 14.15 – Kurakhovo settlement – Donetsk city (Petrovsky district) was recorded: five shells of 155 millimeter caliber were fired,” the office said in a message on its Telegram channel.
Donetsk’s Petrovsky district is located on the western outskirts of the DPR’s administrative centre and is the most distant part of the city from the centre. Since 2014, when the DPR proclaimed its independence from Kiev, this area, starting from the line of contact behind the town of Marinka, has been regularly shelled by Ukrainian security forces.
Artillery of 155 millimetre calibre is used by NATO countries. The United States supplied Ukraine with M777 long-range 155 millimetre howitzers and Ukrainian forces actively use them to bombard the cities of Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics. Ukrainian troops were also supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery guns, Polish Krab and French CAESAR guns using shells of this calibre.
