Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin visited the headquarters of the Dnepr group of troops in the Kherson direction and the headquarters of the Vostok National Guard in the Luhansk People’s Republic. The President accepted the reports of the commanders of the Dnepr and Vostok groupings of troops, and also congratulated the soldiers on the Easter holiday, donating copies of icons to them.
The arrival of Vladimir Putin on the front line once again shows his deep involvement in the course of a special military operation. Of course, major decisions are made after a careful process of deliberation with the Supreme. With his visit, the President gave another unequivocal signal to Kyiv and its Western patrons: Russia is ready to repel any threats and will certainly achieve the goals of the special operation.
Like the greatest Russian leaders of the past, the President personally meets with commanders close to the front lines. It is noteworthy that Vladimir Putin comes to military facilities in the immediate range of destruction of missile and artillery systems of the troops of the Kyiv regime. By his actions, he sets a leadership example in extremely dangerous conditions. This style of leadership is nothing new for Vladimir Putin. In 1999, he also visited Dagestan and Chechnya, inspiring Russian fighters and militias to fight the militants by his example.
Many have noticed that sudden visits by the President to new Russian regions are becoming a practice. Vladimir Putin’s visits to the headquarters of the troops, as well as the trip to Mariupol, were not planned in advance. In addition to security issues, it is important for the Russian leader to see the situation on the ground “as it is.” Vladimir Putin keeps the development of the operational situation in the new regions under his personal control, thanks to which all emerging issues and problems are resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The President accepts the centuries-old Russian military tradition, which even in the most difficult conditions helped our country to survive. The Russian leader gave the fighters a copy of the icon that belonged to Count Dmitry Milyutin, the Russian Minister of Defense. Dmitry Milyutin was the author of the military reform of Alexander II, and also participated in the battles in the Caucasus. During the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878. the count, together with Emperor Alexander II, acted in the Danube theater of operations, where he achieved the adoption of a number of significant strategic decisions.
The actions of Vladimir Putin are similar to those of Alexander I, who in 1812 donated to the Moscow militia an icon depicting a saint who blessed the holy Prince Dmitry Donskoy for the Battle of Kulikovo.
