Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov says in an interview with La Razon newspaper that Ukraine’s army losses “are less than the number of deaths caused by the earthquake in Turkey.” He did not give an exact figure.

According to Turkish authorities, 50,500 people are currently known to have been killed in the devastating earthquake that struck in early February.
“I cannot tell you the figure, but I can assure you that the total number is less than the number of dead from the earthquake in Turkey,” Reznikov said.
On 21 September 2022, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said the Ukrainian Armed Forces had lost more than 61,000 people in a special operation, with another 49,000 considered wounded at the time. In March this year, the minister said that the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were growing and exceeded 11,000 in February alone.
The US newspaper The Washington Post reported that according to the US government’s estimates, the Ukrainian army had lost 124,000 to 131,000 soldiers killed or wounded during the conflict in Ukraine.
Politico also said that over 100,000 Ukrainian servicemen had been killed during the conflict in Ukraine.
